Buy One, Get One Free promotions can be used across:

  • The voucher store

  • Terminal sales

  • Payment links

A maximum of one free item can be applied per order.

How Buy One, Get One Free Works

Choose the products that are eligible for the promotion.

When a customer adds two of the same eligible product to their basket, the second item is discounted to free.

For example, if Afternoon Tea for Two is included in the promotion and a customer adds two to their basket, one will remain at full price and the second will be free.

It must be the same variant to work.

The free item is displayed separately throughout the order so it is clear which product has been included as part of the promotion.

Choosing Eligible Products

You can select which products are included in the promotion.

Only products included in the promotion will qualify.

The second item must be the same eligible product.

For example:

  • 2 x Afternoon Tea for Two = one free

  • 2 x Spa Day = one free

  • 1 x Afternoon Tea and 1 x Spa Day = does not qualify

This allows the promotion to remain specific to the products you want to include.

Automatic and Code-Based Promotions

Buy One, Get One Free promotions can be configured in two ways.

Automatic Promotion

The promotion is applied automatically when the basket meets the required conditions.

The customer does not need to enter a code.

Promotion Code

The promotion is only applied when the customer enters a valid promotion code.

This can be useful for:

  • Email campaigns

  • Corporate offers

  • Partner promotions

  • Customer loyalty campaigns

  • Limited-access promotions

Pairing Prompts

If a customer or staff member adds one eligible product but has not yet added the second item required for the promotion, a pairing prompt is displayed.

For example:

"Add a second Afternoon Tea for Two (Midweek) to make it free."

Pairing prompts are shown on both the voucher store and the Terminal.

This helps customers and staff understand exactly what needs to be added to qualify for the offer.

How Free Items Are Displayed

The free item is shown as its own line item rather than being combined with the paid item.

The free item is displayed separately on:

  • The basket

  • The order

  • The receipt

  • Customer emails

This makes it clear which item was purchased and which item was provided free as part of the promotion.

Using Promotion Codes

Buy One, Get One Free promotions can contain up to 50,000 promotion codes.

Large batches of codes can be generated for campaigns that require unique codes for individual customers, partners or marketing channels.

The dashboard displays the progress while large batches of codes are being created.

Exporting Promotion Codes

Promotion codes can be exported to CSV.

This allows codes to be used with external systems such as:

  • Email marketing platforms

  • CRM systems

  • Corporate campaigns

  • Partner databases

  • Customer mailing lists

There is no smaller export limit for large promotion code batches, so the full set of codes can be exported when required.

Example

A promotion is created for Afternoon Tea for Two.

The promotion is configured to apply automatically.

A customer adds:

  • 1 x Afternoon Tea for Two

  • 1 x Afternoon Tea for Two

The basket will display:

  • Afternoon Tea for Two

  • Afternoon Tea for Two - Free

The customer pays for one item and receives the second item free.

If they only add one eligible product, the basket will prompt them to add a second to qualify for the promotion.
